Several months ago, as I was reading Acts 19, I discovered four interesting parallels between the Ephesus of Paul’s day, and my home, Tupelo, MS.

1. Ephesus was a regional city. People came from all over the region to shop in Ephesus.

2. Ephesus experienced a great revival that transformed the entire region. Mass confessions took place. Healings were common-place. The name of Jesus was held in high honor.

3. Ephesus was the launching pad for a church-planting movement in the entire province. Church were launched in towns like Philadelphia, Sardis, Laodicea, Smyrna, Thyatira, Colossae.

4. Ephesus was the spiritual home of the The Queen of Heaven, the goddess Diana. People came from all over the world to visit at her shrine.

Watch this…

1. Tupelo is a regional city. 130 smaller communities are found within an hour’s drive of Tupelo. Almost 900,000 people live within an hour’s drive. Over 1 million people look to Tupelo for medical and shopping needs.

2. Tupelo has had groups praying for revival for at least 10 years. Multiple prophecies have been given in recent years about a revival that would begin in Tupelo.

3. Hope Church in Tupelo (where I serve as Lead Pastor) has a history of equipping people. We have been the launching pad and spiritual home of many ministriies.

4. Tupelo is the birthplace of the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis. People from all over the world to visit the shrine of his birthplace.

What does this mean? I’ll share that on our first Vision Sunday – this Sunday morning.

  1. I am praying Phil. 2:1-5 for you this day. “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ,
If any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the spirit,
    If any tenderness and compassion,
Then make my joy complete by being like-minded,
Having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit,
But in humility consider others better than yourselves.
Each of you should look not only to your own interest,
But also to the interest of others.
Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.
    BLESSINGS and PRAYERS!
